XG TECHNOLOGY’S xMAX NOMINATED FOR TECHNOLOGY OF THE YEAR
BY THE WIRELESS INNOVATION FORUM
xMax Cognitive Radio Access Network (C-RAN) System Selected as Finalist
in 2011 Achievement Awards
Sarasota, Florida—27 October, 2011—xG® Technology, Inc. ("xG" or the "Company"), the developer of a broad portfolio of wireless communications technologies, including cognitive radio networks, is pleased to announce that it has been nominated for Technology of the Year by the Wireless Innovation Forum (“the Forum”). xG’s xMax cognitive radio access network system was selected as a finalist in the Forum’s Annual Achievement Awards.
The Technology of the Year Award is presented by the Forum’s members to an individual or organization for having a breakthrough product or technology in the field of Software Defined or Cognitive Radio. xMax was nominated for its ability to fundamentally alter telecom economics, drive down costs and open new doors to new mobile applications and competitors.
The xMax system addresses affordability and capability gaps that exist in traditional cellular technologies. Through its innovative approach to identifying and exploiting unused and underused spectrum, xMax can provide additional mobile bandwidth to incumbent wireless operators, as well as deliver new spectrum capacity for wireless deployments by defense agencies, rural telecom firms, public safety organizations, utilities, and emerging carriers.
"We are honored to be recognized by the Wireless Innovation Forum for our game-changing solution to the spectrum crisis facing the wireless industry,” said John Coleman, CEO of xG. “It further affirms xG’s leadership in the design, development and deployment of cognitive mobile networks that have the ability to positively impact a number of vertical markets.”
Winners of the Achievement Awards will be announced at SDR’11-WInnComm, the Wireless Innovation Forum’s annual conference on communications technologies and software defined radio. This is the only event devoted to the advancement of reconfigurable radio technologies from research through deployment. Past winners include corporations such as Harris and Thales.
