Alarm Industry Communications Committee (AICC) meeting
Date: December 10, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
George Schmitt, xG Technology Chairman, will be the featured presenting speaker. In addition to his presentation, xG representatives will be conducting a demonstration of the xMax cognitive radio system at the venue that covers use cases applicable to the security industry.
Mr. Schmitt will be discussing how xMax can serve as an effective last-mile technology for security firms. Wireless alarms and video monitoring are fast-growing segments of the security industry, and xMax answers the industry’s need for a robust, cost-effective broadband solution to meet their customers demand for increased services.
Security firms typically contract with incumbent mobile service providers to carry this wireless data, incurring monthly fees. However, by employing xMax as a single-network solution, security firms will be able to own their own networks, and have better control of their customer relationships and cost structure. Among the services xMax can support include alarm monitoring, voice communications, and real-time video feeds.
The AICC is comprised of the Central Station Alarm Association (monitoring and installation companies), the Electronic Security Association (predominately installers), and the Security Industry Association (manufacturers of alarm equipment including Personnel Emergency Response Systems (PERS). The AICC works on behalf of the entire alarm industry to provide coordination in a variety of areas between the alarm industry and the FCC, other regulatory agencies and members of Congress when needed. The committee monitors developments at the federal level that affect the ability of the alarm industry to utilize telecommunications technology to provide protection services to the public.
