At the recent TV White Spaces Summit in Washington, DC, xG conducted live demonstrations of the xMax system.
This represented a milestone for us, as it was the first time we demonstrated our system in a portable configuration. The system consists of a single sector xMax Base Station, a WiFi access point and several xMax handsets. Attendees at the event got a chance to make calls to anywhere in the US using both xMax mobile VoIP and WiFi. A spectrum analyzer showed them the interference and xMax signals operating on the license-free 900 MHz ISM band.
Feedback from those who used the system, including key thought leaders from both the FCC and the wireless industry, was extremely positive. Callers were impressed with the voice quality of the xMax system, as well as its innovative use of VoIP and end-to-end IP architecture. See additional images from the demonstration here.
We will be bringing this demo system with us to other shows and events to enable additional industry leaders and potential customers to experience the ability of xMax to offer “a licensed experience using unlicensed spectrum” in the 900 MHz ISM band.
