xG Technology Granted Six New Patents

xG Technology announced today in a press release that that is has been granted six new patents in the past three months. The awarded patents cover a wide range of technologies including spectrum sharing, media access control (MAC), mobile VoIP signaling and interference detection/mitigation.

These newly granted patents underscore xG's increasingly valuable Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio as well as its growing leadership in the rapidly expanding cognitive radio market. The New York Times recently reported, “A number of companies are developing technology that could change the whole spectrum game by using radio frequencies more efficiently.”

Commenting on the news, Pertti Alapuranen, Director of Systems Design at xG, said,  “It is rewarding to see that the patent office is recognizing xG’s contribution to smart radio technology as we rapidly move forward with state of the art innovation. The technical team continues to file patent applications that showcase the new inventions and techniques xG is pioneering. We will remain focused on developing IP that enables viable solutions to the looming spectrum crisis and more bandwidth to be extracted from crowded airwaves.”

As of the date of this release, xG’s United States patent portfolio includes 33 patents granted, with an additional 29 applications patent pending. The Company’s foreign patent portfolio totals 143 patent matters (issued and pending).
