xG Technology Featured in TMCNet Blog Post

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

xG Technology Featured in TMCNet Blog PostxG Technology was featured today in a blog post that appeared on TMCNet. In the post entitled "xG Scores Another Potential Win," TMCNet CEO (and noted telecom industry expert) Rich Tehrani discussed xG's $6M sales win announced on January 14 and the announcement today that Cornet Technology has entered into an agreement with xG to resell $5M worth of the company’s products to the government and DoD.

Among his comments are the following:

"If the company is successful selling to the government via this deal – it could do exceedingly well selling to other governments around the world and to more US agencies as well. Also, M2M (machine to machine) could be a market which can benefit from the company's solutions."

Jack Grubman Appointed to xG Technology Parent Company MBTH’s Board of Directors

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

Jack Grubman Appointed to xG Technology Parent Company MBTHs Board of DirectorsMB Technology Holdings, LLC, the parent company of xG Technology, announced today that telecom and technology industry veteran Jack Grubman has been appointed to its board of directors, effective immediately.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Grubman said, "I am pleased to join the board of directors of MBTH. I look forward to working with and advising xG Technology, as well as the opportunity to work with George Schmitt, who is one of the most highly respected leaders in the wireless industry. I see a lot of tech business plans that attempt to solve problems that don't exist. In contrast, xG has leading-edge products, solutions and capabilities in cognitive radio that solve a very real and growing concern. Everyone realizes that the demand for wireless spectrum capacity is outstripping its supply. If unresolved, this problem may cause issues such as increased interference, dropped calls and slow data rates. xG will allow more of this traffic to flow on unlicensed spectrum or eventually over spectrum shared between operators. The explosive proliferation of bandwidth-consuming devices will only accelerate the need for the cognitive radio technology xG is pioneering."

Commenting on the announcement, George Schmitt, xG Director and CEO of MB Technology Holdings, said, “We are very pleased that Jack Grubman has accepted our offer to join the MBTH board. It is truly gratifying that such a prominent telecom industry veteran not only recognizes the game-changing potential of xG’s solution from a business and technology perspective, but is also anxious to get directly involved in propagating these solutions throughout the wireless ecosystem.”

xG Selected to Present on Interference Mitigation at SDR ’12 Winn Comm Europe Forum

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

xG Technology is pleased to announce it has been selected to give a presentation on “Interference Mitigation Using 2X4 MIMO” at the SDR'12 – WinnComm – Europe Forum. This conference is produced by the Wireless Innovation Forum and covers communications technologies and software defined radio. It will be held in Brussels, Belgium June 27-29, 2012.

Interference mitigation has been identified as one of the top areas of interest for 2012 in the cognitive radio field by Wireless Innovation Forum Members. xG will be the lead presenter on the interference mitigation topic at the forum.

Interference is a growing problem for all wireless communications networks. It is of particular concern to our public safety, armed forces and homeland security agencies. Their growing reliance on broadband communications makes unintentional and intentional interference (jamming) a real threat to their missions.

xG Technology is at the forefront of using cognitive radio technology to deal with interference issues. xG’s xMax leverages proprietary technology to implement a multifaceted strategy for dealing with interference. xMax combines innovative DSA attributes with sophisticated interference mitigation capabilities. The keystone of the latter is a 2 x 4 MIMO configuration that builds upon xG’s “layered approach” and adds additional resistance to interferers.

SDR’11-WInnComm-Europe is the premier event to feature the latest in cognitive radio and dynamic spectrum access (DSA) technologies, as well as cognitive radio/software defined radio programs and requirements. The event includes daily keynote presentations from recognized leaders in advanced wireless communications and three days of technical presentations and workshops on International tactical radio, spectrum sensing and other subjects.

xG Technology August 2011 Military Industry Events Recap

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

xG TechnoloxG Technology August 2011 Military Industry Events Recapgy was a featured exhibitor at two key military-focused venues in August. First was at the DISA Customer and Industry Forum in Baltimore, MD. The Forum brought together decision-makers and subject-matter experts from the military services, combatant commands, industry, and academia to share information and ideas that are critical to helping the DoD achieve mission success. xG appeared as part of the AFCEA Technology Showcase. There was considerable interest from attendees in knowing more about xG’s technology offering. We noted increased awareness of xG as a result of recent coverage in the military media, particularly the excellent article showcasing xG in Signal Magazine, as well as growing interest in the topic of cognitive radio technology.

This was followed by our appearance at the LandWarNet conference in Tampa, FL. The conference had significant participation by senior Department of Defense and Army military and civilian leadership, as well as heavy commercial industry representation. xG representatives also attended sessions where speakers noted several times that the Army lacks a communications system that addresses the capability gaps in traditional cellular – shortcomings that the xMax cognitive radio network system is highly qualified to address and resolve.

Images from the two events can be viewed at this link.

xG Participates in Tactical Cellular Exercise at Dam Neck Base

Friday, September 9th, 2011

xG Technology recently participated in an invitation-only event in which the xMax cognitive radio network system was tested at the Dam Neck Base near Virginia Beach, VA. The event, billed the Mobile Unified Communications Experiment (MUC), was convened to assess the ability of commercial mobile technologies to enhance US Air Force and Army operations.

xG Participates in Tactical Cellular Exercise at Dam Neck BaseThe Air Force and Army currently lack rapidly deployable mobile cellular networks to support their respective missions. The purpose of the Dam Neck exercise was to assess the technical feasibility and military utility in establishing tactical cellular networks using existing, affordable commercial technology. xMax offers a unique solution to this challenge, providing a communications system that is extremely mobile, scalable, frequency agile and cost-efficient, while having highly flexible deployment schemes. This allows maximum access to the fullest array of C2 (command and control) services.

Dam Neck is part of Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana and is home to the Fleet Combat Training Center, Atlantic along with 13 other tenant commands. Founded in 1941 as an anti-aircraft range, the base still boasts the Navy's only open-ocean, live firing training facility featuring major caliber weapons. xG images from the exercise can be viewed at this link.

xG Technology to Exhibit at AFCEA Fall Intelligence Symposium

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

xG Technology will be a featured exhibitor at the upcoming AFCEA Fall Intelligence Symposium, which is being held at the National Reconnaissance Office in Chantilly, VA, Oct. 12-13, 2011.

xG Technology to Exhibit at AFCEA Fall Intelligence SymposiumThis security-focused classified program is being presented by government and industry members of the AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association) Intelligence Committee. The program will explore the issues surrounding the development of a multi-source collection architecture. While intelligence remains the nation’s first line of defense, the question of where to focus new investments or where to redirect current dollars continues to receive high-level attention.

xG will have a display presence in the venue exhibit area, where technologies impacting the Intelligence Community today will be showcased.
